Ever wonder why you must protect yourself from the sun? It is because the sunlight contains Ultraviolet rays that are bad for your skin and eyes. How do we know that the UV rays are actually there? In this experiment, we will be able to see the effect of UV rays from the sun. The UV bracelet experiment demonstrates how UV radiation emitted from the sun and the affects of the pigments on the beads. The main topic of this experiment is to understand the sun’s UV radiation. Students will be able to see how the UV rays from the sun will cause a color change to the beads through a process called photochromism where photo means light and chromism means to change color.
